Why QR Code? Is QR code already dead?

Past two or three years, working on the Scan2D QR code, and a question from lots of friends "Wasn't QR Code already dead?" Well, it is very interesting question, but there's no Chinese or anyone has been travelled to China in past two year ask same question. Why, because right now in China you pretty can go nowhere and do nothing without a mobile device because you need scan the QR codes. From buy a movie ticket, rent a bicycle and pay for a dinner, so on and so on, nowhere without a QR code.


Here, in North American, we saw QR code very few and most people thinking it is a dead or bad technology. Is it really dead? No, definitely not. The only problem is not much people know how to use it, and because of that a lot of people abused the QR code and makes it looks bad.


So, what will be the common problem of using a QR code?

1. A QR code links to nothing, either the QR code is inactive or the web site is dead
2. A QR code links to a NOT mobile friendly content, remember people can only scan the QR code from their mobile device, any content requires big screen to display is useless
3. A QR code is too small to scan or people have the trouble to scan the QR code because of the angle or position.

So, if you are going to use a QR code for your products, services or events, please have above items in your mind and avoid them all.
